How to Use Layers in BrightInvestor

A quick guide on how to populate and navigate layer data.

1. Let's start by placing a radius. Right-click on the map and press Drop Pin.

2. Let's map Crime Data to demonstrate the Layer function. In Step 1 of the sidebar, select Crime.

3. We'll use the Heat Map/Pins Data Type with a 6-month time frame.

4. Select Radius and click 2 miles.

5. With these filters, press Generate Map to view our Crime Data.

6. The map will display a 2-mile radius of the Crime in our area from the last 6 months.

7. Let's add the map to a layer to start using layer features.

8. Enter your Layer Name and click Save.

9. Next to the search bar, the Layers button will appear. Click on that now to display your layers. For this tutorial, we added Income, Schools, and Business ahead of time.

10. In the layers navigation bar, you can hide/unhide layered data to stack maps and locate the best areas.

11. By unhiding Schools, we can instantly see the generated schools map in our 2-mile radius. Let's unhide our Crime Layer.

12. By layering just two data types, we can now find the best schools in the safest areas.

13. In the Layers navigation, you can hover your mouse over a tab and press the trash can to Delete Layers.

Warning! Deleting layers isn't the same as hiding them. Once you've deleted a layer, the only way to get it back is by generating and layering the data again.

14. Click Show All/Hide All to unhide/hide all layers. Press Clear All to permanently delete all layers.
